WWE has been building up Alberto Del Rio for the Royal Rumble these past few weeks and it was little surprise that he won the Rumble match. He now has the opportunity to challenge either the WWE Champion (Miz) or the World Heavyweight Champion (Edge). Obviously, he’ll end up challenging Edge but expect Alberto to play this out longer than he normally would. Heck, if WWE is going full-blast with their youth movement, they made the absolute right move here. Alberto is headed for big, great things in the future and the Rumble win definitely boosted his main-event push sooner than later. Congratulations again Alberto! Now if you can generate more heat just in time for WrestleMania 27 (or than what Vickie can get in day’s work), that main event match with Edge would be totally off the charts.

The Immortal storyline has been awful so far. Yeah it’s another NWO-style takeover but what I don’t understand is why they had to drag Fortune into this crap. I can’t imagine AJ Styles playing second fiddle to Jeff Hardy when AJ SHOULD be the top guy in this Immortal/Fortune group. Heck, he should be the TNA World Heavyweight Champion right now and not Mr. Anderson. Even though I’m a huge fan of Mr. Anderson, he’s not yet champ material. His title win lacked proper build up and it just makes him look like a transitional champion. For now, he’s the top guy until Jeff Hardy resolves his legal case next month.

Going back to AJ Styles and Fortune, I believe these guys should separate themselves from Immortal because that group is becoming crowded already. They shouldn’t be acting like dogs for Hogan and company or looking like a bunch of Rob Terry’s. 3/4 of Fortune are champions right now! AJ Styles, Kazarian and Beer Money deserve much better than this. Ric Flair, he’ll live no matter what the storyline is.

Nexus is under new management. It’s CM Punk’s group now.

Things were going badass until Justin Gabriel and Heath Slater, together with Ezekiel Jackson,  joined Wade Barrett on Smackdown, forming their own Nexus. In my opinion, CM Punk’s group got weakened by it. The beatdowns will be there..but signature part of those beatdowns are no longer existent. Yup, I’m talking about Justin Gabriel’s 450 splash. I guess it’ll be up to Punk’s GTS to finish those beatdowns. They should probably add another or two members to make this current Nexus a bit more intimidating. Four members just don’t cut it for me. Nonetheless, this new angle looks pretty bright with CM Punk leading the Nexus. Surely, David Otunga, Michael McGillicutty and Husky Harris will benefit from Punk’s guidance (and mean streak). I wouldn’t be surprise if this current Nexus will act more heelish than ever instead of being constantly scared by Cena. Also, this looks like an NWO-style war between CM Punk’s and Wade Barrett’s Nexus.  A WrestleMania 27 match pitting Zeke, Gabriel and Slater versus Otunga, McGillicutty and Harris should probably happen..and with more members too please. That would be awesome.

2 more days before I get back to being a busybody again wah 🙁

Getting involved with the Bella Twins has made Daniel Bryan look a bit weak if you ask me. Yeah he still wins matches but it just doesn’t work for me. I know he needs a gimmick improvement but are the Bellas the solution for that? I don’t think so. It’s too much of a short-term solution than building something solid and realistic for him.

I would like to see him turn heel and make him a no-nonsense, ruthless punk that will make everyone tap out to a variety of submissions, not just the LeBell lock. Give him an arrogant, submission monster gimmick. Before each match, have him ask his opponent to tap out now than suffer or snap later. Hey, the dude can talk! Slowly build him up, taking out all the low to midcarders and then eventually, face the main-eventers, without any BS on his part or coward heel acts. Just a SOB for his own good, something like that. Then again, WWE’s in PG era so I guess that won’t work right now.

Bye 2010, hello 2011! So how’s 2011 so far? Hope it rocks like 2010 did!

This year will mark a new beginning for certain WWE and TNA wrestlers who are making the best out of their main-event pushes. Guys like Alberto Del Rio, Mr. Anderson, Matt Morgan, The Miz, Wade Barrett had a fantastic 2010 and will look to continue that success heading into 2011. However, it looks like John Morrison will own 2011 (together with The Miz probably) if given the proper push. I know it’s a stretch at this point but I don’t see why we won’t be seeing the Shaman of Sexy as WWE Champion this year. He may not have the awesome (pun intended) mic skills of The Miz, but he sure does have the charisma and wrestling skillset to make it to the top. He’s one or two big angles away from being considered a championship material. I say let him lose on Monday against Miz and have him win this year’s Royal Rumble, although, honestly, Alberto del Rio is my pick on that one. Either way, you can’t go wrong with Morrison. If he doesn’t win the Royal Rumble, then make him the MITB winner on WrestleMania 27 (if they’re going to have it). Renew his feud with CM Punk (with or without Nexus) after WM27 and again, you can never go wrong with that. We’ll see if WWE can have faith on him like they have in Sheamus or Miz.
