It’s almost a foregone conclusion that today will be the last day of Brock Lesnar’s pitiful Universal Championship reign..and Roman Reigns will be the one to dethrone him (coz Vince said so). As mentioned a few weeks back, I would’ve love Seth Rollins to be the man to finally win the strap from The Beast but here we are. Right now, anyone would take Roman Reigns as champion instead of the part-timer. There’s a trick to it though.
WWE has teased us with a Heyman-Reigns partnership and boy did it look good. You may say that it was just a plan by Paul for a staged attack by Brock, but you can clearly see in his facial expressions that he’s trying to send the Big Dog a cryptic message-that at this point, they need each other. They’re both ‘drowning’ and the only way they can come out of this as winners is to form an unholy alliance. Plus, Brock Lesnar didn’t attack Paul a couple of weeks ago just for the heck of it. WWE planted the seeds. Now, they just need to decide where to finally go with the turn or not.
You don’t need to have an MITB cash-in tonight for things to get interesting in the Universal Championship picture. We just need to see the Roman Reigns-Paul Heyman partnership materialize.
Arguably the biggest heel on the wrestling planet today, Tommaso Ciampa has cemented himself as one of the very best villains in WWE history. Now, he’s the man on top of NXT and that’s the perfect way to rub it in everyone’s faces that he’s our NXT Champion and there’s nothing anyone can do about it. With Johnny Gargano and, now, Aleister Black in this championship mix, it’ll only add intrigue as to how everything will unfold in the next couple of months. The Ciampa-Gargano seems far from over by any means so Triple H and co. might be milking this until the fans can’t take it anymore. Right now though, we wouldn’t mind another bout between the two especially now reports have surfaced that Aleister just sustained a groin injury that might sideline him for a couple of weeks. Bad timing for him since he might not be able to use his rematch clause at this month’s NXT Takeover. Hopefully he recovers in record time as it’ll be a shame if he wouldn’t be able to compete at the PPV especially while this 3-way feud is still going hot.

Randy Orton has embraced his dark side again, and I mean REALLY DARK side. After almost ripping Jeff Hardy’s ear off, fans were excited to see this side of Randy again. The sadistic, merciless apex predator that he is was shown in his classic form. It was truly vintage Orton.
He has effectively shelved Jeff Hardy (storyline-wise) and now it looks like he’s also gunning for Shinsuke Nakamura, probably going for the US Championship. Both are heels so it’ll be interesting if RKO will be a tweener moving forward or if he’s 100% heel. Whatever his intentions are or his persona will be, you can bet that The Viper’s venom has returned. This is how you perfectly showcase Randy Orton.
Kane’s a face again for the nth time and this time around, he decided to reunite with Daniel Bryan even though the Big Red Machine attempted to end Bryan’s career a few years back. Seems like they were put back together just for the nostalgia act, not because the Bludgeon Brothers were their common enemies. At the end of the day though, DBry is being kept out of a major Miz feud until WrestleMania or perhaps as early as SummerSlam so I can see why we’re seeing this program-and that’s why I think Team Hell No won’t be winning the SmackDown tag team titles anytime soon. There’s always that upcoming Miz feud lurking around. Plus, Rowan and Harper have dominated the SD tag division so that’s probably the reason why Team Hell No is back.
Daniel Bryan and Kane are back as Team HELL NO and the WWE Universe love it. Should’ve been Team Hell Yes though, right?
One can argue that Braun Strowman doesn’t need the MITB briefcase to win the Universal Championship. His persona doesn’t required it. However, the moment he was included in the Mens Money in the Bank match, everyone not named Braun had their chances of winning the contract reduced to almost zero. No way this monster can ever realistically lose a match like this and not look weak. His destiny was set in stone when he qualified for this rare opportunity. Him finally beating Brock Lesnar increased to 100%, provided the Universal Champion shows up.
It would have been intriguing if the Monster Among Men can challenge either the Universal Champion or the WWE Champion. That way, it creates an air of uneasiness for AJ Styles as well. BUT it has to be Brock Lesnar. It’ll be more satisfying that way. A huge possibility though is if Seth Rollins does something about it and challenges (and CONQUERS) Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. We might see a Braun Strowman cash-in against The Architect instead.
Do you dig Baron’s new look? Probably 99.9% of the WWE Universe think that he needed to shave that head bald and what do you know, out of nowhere he did just that! More than showing a new haircut though, Baron Corbin also debuted a new gimmick: The Constable Baron Corbin. He became the eyes of RAW commish Stephanie McMahon and it fits him perfectly. Being a thorn on everyone’s side, especially Kurt Angle’s, he’ll definitely thrive in this new role. Rather than being lost in the shuffle, The Constable can instead wield power, albeit a quite limited one but still meaningful, according to his liking. I’m intrigued as to whether this new role can bring him future success or become the final straw from getting over with the crowd. I would like to see the former, most of us do.
These girls have the IT factor. They might not always put on a classic but they’d surely elicit a good response from the WWE Universe. Yes, Peyton and Billie aren’t winning a lot of matches currently but it’ll be only a matter of time before they do and get a momentum going. Too bad though both weren’t even included in this year’s Womens Money in the Bank match. Let’s see if they do something about it before or during the match. Even though these two might be getting along well with Lana in WWE live events, it’s not entirely impossible for them to turn on her and take her out before the MITB match. One of them, most likely Peyton Royce, can then replace Lana’s spot and get a chance on the MITB briefcase.

With Money in the Bank just around the corner, Ember Moon looks to make quick work of establishing herself as a contender to the Women’s Championship. She has been impressive so far in her RAW stint so far that it’s almost a lock for her to win the MITB briefcase. If she doesn’t, hope it won’t spell the end of her push. This woman has so much untapped potential.
