Cody Rhodes Wallpaper as The Nightmare King!

When the King of the Ring tournament started, it was pretty obvious that Cody Rhodes was slated to win the whole thing. We’re seeing parallels to John Cena and Roman Reigns‘ careers, as Cody Rhodes has been pushed to the moon since coming back to WWE. The King of the Ring is just another accolade to the illustrious career Cody has been establishing. It is something that he doesn’t really need, but still awarded to him. Personally, I’m not mad about it—especially if it’s part of the slow burn to becoming a villain once again.
There are hints here and there, but the one that really stood out to me is how he didn’t hesitate to target Randy Orton’s back in the finals of the King of the Ring, with Drew McIntyre even pointing it out in the recent SmackDown episode. As a result of his win against Randy Orton, he’s now facing John Cena at SummerSlam. For instance, Cody wins the Undisputed WWE Championship and Seth Rollins cashing in right after and winning the title, could that be the catalyst for Cody to start his heel run?
The Nightmare King?
As the Nightmare King, he could be tapping into his meaner side, similar to what John Cena is doing now. A mad king of sorts perhaps. Heck, they can even do a double turn at some point, as John Cena ultimately goes back to being a babyface before he retires at the end of 2025. Furthermore, Cody Rhodes even said himself that he’s at the end of his babyface run. I believe that should account for something. He’s very much aware of what’s going around him, and what is needed to be done.
Thus, the Nightmare King is poised to reclaim his dominion over WWE.
