Last week, Kupy Wrestling Wallpapers released a new The Rock wallpaper inspired by his latest Brahma Bull / Just Bring It shirt design. Today, it’s his current nemesis’ shirt design, CM Punk’s Knees 2 Faces! Most of us already know that this is a knock to The Great One’s Boots to Asses shirt design before. CM Punk’s epic title reign is getting more epic by the day in this age, regardless of how he has defended the WWE Championship since his heel turn. Being a wrestling champion, in general, for more than a year should be commended. With The Rock lurking in the background though, we may not see Punk hold the title any longer either after Royal Rumble or Elimination Chamber (depending on WWE’s WrestleMania 29 plans).

The Rock made another triumphant return to RAW (and SmackDown!) last week and started 2013 with a huge bang. His exchange with CM Punk was one for the ages, both men making strong cases for themselves and separating them from the rest of the pack. You can truly feel the intensity between the two megastars, something we didn’t truly see in the Rock-Cena feud. The Rock entertained the millions of his fans and gave them a reason to order the 2013 Royal Rumble PPV. Man, I can’t wait for that. Also, the Cookiepuss reference, I’ll leave that to you guys if you think it’s witty or lame.

The unpredictability of whether The Rock will be able to capture the WWE Championship again or not makes it undeniably intriguing, especially with the Road to WrestleMania 29 just around the corner. Will CM Punk retain and give credibility to his historic reign? Or will the Great One finally end Punk’s streak and become WWE Champion once again?

As we look back on the memorable WWE moments of 2012, let’s be thankful of the wrestling goodness we got this year. From Daniel Bryan’s rise to stardom to CM Punk’s 400+ days of WWE Title reign, 2012 was totally spectacular, regardless of some disappointments (John Cena as WWE Superstar of the Year, RAW going 3 hours, etc). We’ll always get those. Good thing we’re headed to a very promising 2013, with Rock coming back (again), Ziggler breaking the ceiling anytime soon, young prospects (The Shield, Big E Langston) being groomed well and the likes of CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Ryback getting ready to take up the reins off Cena, soon.

We close this epic year of 2012 with the current title holders in the WWE. Most of these champions are the future of WWE. Punk and Bryan were both revelations that started last year. Kofi is one heel turn away from getting out of the midcard. Wade Barrett made a last-day attempt to win the Intercontinental Championship from Kofi Kingston..and he did just that. Be ready for the Barrett Barrage this 2013. Antonio Cesaro, what can I say? Probably one of the fastest rising WWE Superstars today. Divas Champion Eve is currently dominating the very weak Divas division (until new blood comes in for help). Team Hell No will own the tag team division until they finally go their separate ways, with Bryan hopefully challenging for the WWE/World Heavyweight Championship. Lastly, as an added bonus, Dolph Ziggler. The hottest commodity on the planet right now. I’m predicting he’ll be the Superstar of the Year in 2013, though Ryback/Punk may have something to say about that.

With the recent attacks on Ryback, Tyson Kidd and Santino Marella, one can’t help but wonder what truly are the motives behind The Shield’s attacks. They say that they’re about honor. That they’re about principles. That they are the shield from injustice. I say the attack on Kidd and Marella were just diversions from their real mission and that’s to protect CM Punk. Paul Heyman must be the mastermind of these stable. We’re lead to believe that they act on their own but most likely they’re really don’t. We’ll see in the coming weeks if these collection of highly-regarded wrestlers are really what they say they are because no one’s believing them, yet. As for their capabilities, little is known about Roman Reigns..but for the other two, they’re almost like legends in the indy scene. Dean Ambrose can certainly burn the mic and has a very compelling personality. Seth Rollins..what can you say? It’s said that he’s the most complete of the group and it’s just a matter of time before he becomes a household name and a bonafide WWE Superstar. I see him being more successful as a face and I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s the only one who turns face when The Shield is no more. The comparisons to CM Punk can’t be ignored too.

From main-eventing WrestleMania 27 to jobbing to lower-card WWE Superstarts, The Miz experienced one of the biggest career drops in WWE history in just a span of a year and a few months. With the rise of CM Punk to stardom and the likes of Alberto del Rio and Dolph Ziggler getting huge pushes, the Awesome One was forced to sidestep and give way to these stars. After coming back and winning/dropping the Intercontinental Championship, it was almost like last year again. This time though, after paying his dues, a new life has been seen on Miz’ career.

The past few weeks we’ve seen The Miz toy with the idea of turning babyface. Even though he joined Mick Foley’s team at Survivor Series, in which he got eliminated before Randy Orton, there’s always this thing that you can’t trust about the guy. He’s not yet a full-fledged good guy. We’ll see if he continues this or if he’s just making this up. Miz has a long way to go before earning everyone’s trust (and that includes myself) since it won’t be an easy ride from hereon. He’s a natural heel and we’ve yet to see how he truly works as a babyface, whether it suits him or not. I personally believe that he needs to stop mentioning his WM27 win and bragging about him being a former WWE Champion. He should act like he’s never won anything yet. That would make him hungrier and will have a big chip on his shoulder to prove to everyone that he truly belongs (and stay) in the main event scene. Let the memories of WrestleMania 27 and his previous WWE Championship run turn into dust, at least for now.

This marching demolition machine is doing just that: demolishing opponents (mostly 2 wrestlers at a time) on his way to the main event scene. He was inserted into the WWE Title picture way too early if you ask me..but everytime we’ve seen him these past few weeks, you can’t help but root for the guy. Maybe it’s because CM Punk has done a masterful job of his recent heel turn and a beating of a lifetime from Ryback serves justice or maybe simply because Ryback has what it truly takes to be on top of the food chain this early. Of course we can’t talk about his character being effective without the comparison to Goldberg since, let’s face it, the blueprint for Ryback’s character is totally based on the WCW legend. However, if you look at it in a different light, you will see that this gimmick is highly effective for specimens like Ryback or Goldberg because of their tenacity, mystery and intense nature. Fans dig that. All action, less words. Feed me more. Finish it. Done. Who’s Next?

What happens in Hell in a Cell may make or break Ryback’s career. Punk is having one hell of a WWE Championship run and you don’t want that to end anytime soon (unless he gets punished for hitting the fan on this week’s WWE RAW). Same goes for Ryback, his undefeated run shouldn’t come to a screeching halt just like that. So what happens at HIAC? I’m thinking of a triple threat involving John Cena of course and Punk will get the pin on him after Ryback hits a Shell Shock on Cena. We’ll see if Cena can do the match despite the recent surgery. Props to him for not missing a lot of time.

After outlasting Samoa Joe, a shoulder-to-post attack by Aces and Eights and Bully Ray at the Bound for Glory Series final, Jeff Hardy has finally earned the right to face Austin Aries at TNA Bound for Glory. As much as Bully Ray deserves to be on that main event, I can see why Hardy was the one chosen. This should be a really good matchup as these competitors are both hard workers and really have a great relationship with the TNA fans. They’re TNA’s biggest draws. I would like to see some heated storyline between the two though I’m afraid this will be all about respect at the end of the day. Here’s a thought, what if Austin Aries is the leader of Aces and Eights and not Bully Ray? Will this play out on the road to BFG or will they do something on the event itself, much like the “they” storyline last year? Leader or not though, I can see Aries retaining. He’s had a good run as champion.

Antonio Cesaro (formerly/popularly known as Claudio Castagnoli in the indies) is the new WWE United States Champion! This marks a fresh, good start to his long career in the major league. The man reeks of a different kind of charisma and features a brutal and unique wrestling skill set that many have been victimized, like Santino Marella. I specially like his move where he tosses his opponent in the air and throws a European uppercut while the guy is falling. Looks like it packs a lot of pain! His attacks are unconventional and are meant to truly hurt his opponents.

Now that Cesaro has found a permanent spot on our TV screens, look for the guy to quickly and steadily gain momentum. He’s built for the long run and the main events. We’ll see if he and Aksana make a bigger impact on SmackDown in the next year or so. Or is it possible that he brings back the European Championship title to gain more heel heat? Seems like a good idea to me 😛

Ever since Dolph Ziggler told Chris Jericho his opinion of him losing his touch, Y2J has found a new fire..though I dunno if this was the right time to turn face since he’ll be out of the WWE for quite a time again due to his Fozzy tour. Nonetheless, we’re seeing the Jericho of old lately, but a bit more PG LOL. What do you expect huh? Either way, regardless of the timing of his face turn, it was a much-needed change since his latest and current run hasn’t been impressive at all, just like what Dolph pointed out. Ziggler has maintained that stance and thus forced Jericho to turn it up a notch. These 2 have great chemistry and I can’t wait to see their match at SummerSlam. I see Jericho winning and getting a brutal post-beatdown at the hands of Ziggler to write him off from TV. Or the beatdown could happen on next week’s RAW instead.
